Taxi and Auto Tariffs in India Set to Increase

Those plying by taxi and autos in India will need to spare more bucks. The reason being the taxi and auto fares have increased. The Transport Minister has given his nod for the raise. The auto unions were demanding a rise in the fares and this indicates they've finally got what they'd wanted.

The Transport Minister and the representatives of the union had a meeting concerning the hike in fares and this indicates the federal government has given them the go ahead. Respecting your choice of the federal government, the Auto Rickshaw Sangh took back its protest.

However, this decision put forth a fresh problem for the Transport Minister. The Blueline owners now want a share of increase for them too. They too played their part by meeting the Minister concerning the same. Their demand was to improve fares from Rs.5 to Rs.6; from Rs. 10 to Rs.12. There must be a maximum fare of Rs. 18, that is currently Rs.15. The bus owners have got a cue from their so called counterparts and have done their job by issuing threats of going on strike.

Meanwhile, the auto and taxi owners gave time only up to Tuesday. However, this time limit is too short, feels the transport administrators, to go with the upsurge in fares Auto News.  However, they assured that the hike is pertinent and Monday's cabinet meet will see this dilemma being taken up. However, auto unions have given a statement from their side saying that the federal government has allowed the hike. The newest information will be issued the following day - Tuesday.

However, not all are happy with this particular decision. Some feel the meter down charges are too sharp. There's a stroll of Rs. 5. The older meter down charges were Rs. 10. This means there's a rise of 50%. Taxis saw lesser hike. Their hike was significantly less than 50% however still in terms of money Rs. 5 have already been increased. These will be Rs. 20 from the previous Rs. 15.
